How do I sell tickets to a comedy show online without paying ticket fees?

Put your show on a page of its own, with a ticket type for each kind of seat, such as general admission and front row, and a limit that matches your room. Take payment through your own PayPal or Stripe account so the money goes straight to you. Email each guest a ticket with a QR code, and check names or codes at the door.

Why Payly

Seats priced the way clubs sell them

The Comedy show template starts with general admission and front-row tickets, each with its own price and quantity, and a limit for the room. Change the names, prices and numbers to fit your show.

Two shows in one night

Name a ticket type for each show, such as 7 pm and 9:30 pm, and give each its own quantity. The event capacity caps both shows together, and a full show closes by itself.

Open mic nights can stay free

Make the audience ticket free, with a quantity for your room. Guests reserve with no payment step, still get a QR code, and you check them in the same way as paid guests.

How comedy show tickets work in Payly

You set the seats and prices. PayPal or Stripe collects each payment.

  1. Start from Comedy show

In Your sites, click New, choose Event tickets and pick Comedy show. Change the ticket names, prices and quantities, and write the date, venue and start time in the description.

  2. Set the room limit

Enter your room's seats as the Event capacity and choose the most tickets per order. Use Set sale dates to open sales on a day, or Close on in Settings to stop them.

  3. Connect PayPal or Stripe, then publish

Your event runs on your own free Cloudflare account. Share its link, or print the QR code from Settings on a poster. At the door, open Check in and scan.

What you get

  • General admission and front-row tickets, each with its own price and quantity

  • A QR code for every ticket, emailed with the receipt

Honest answers

Can guests pick their own seats or join a waitlist?

No. Assigned seats and waitlists are not supported. Sell the front row as its own ticket type with a quantity. When a type is used up, it shows Sold out and can no longer be picked.

Can my small room be oversold?

While someone is paying, their tickets are held for 30 minutes, so two guests cannot take the last seat. A payment that finishes after its hold ended still gets its tickets, so you can sell a ticket or two over. For a tight room, set the capacity a little under.

Does check-in work in a basement club?

Check in needs an internet connection, because every scan is checked as it happens, so test the signal before doors open. It runs in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. How check-in works

What if a show is canceled?

Refund each payment from the Payments screen, in full or for an amount you choose, through Stripe or PayPal. A full refund also puts that order's tickets back on sale. Refund a payment

Is it really free?
