Why Payly

Members-only pages

Limit a page to a membership level. Anyone else sees a short notice instead, with nothing of what is on the page.

Access that follows the subscription

A member holds their level while their subscription runs. Payly checks it every time they open a members-only page, so access ends when the subscription does.

Nothing taken from memberships

Payly charges no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no commission. PayPal and Stripe charge their standard processing fees, as they would on any platform.

How memberships work in Payly

A level is the access. A subscription product is what members buy.

  1. Create a level

In Memberships, click Add a level and give it a name, such as Member or Plus. A higher level number sees more.

  2. Link it to a subscription

Open a subscription product, choose the level under Grants membership and click Save. A monthly and a yearly product can grant the same level.

  3. Make pages members-only

In the editor, open Manage pages and change a page from Everyone to your level. Click Done, then Publish.

What you get

  • Levels ranked by number, so a higher level opens lower-level pages too
  • Members-only pages that can stay in your menu, or leave it
  • Several products, such as monthly and yearly, granting one level
  • Access kept through free trials, pauses and payment retries
  • Sign-in with an emailed link or code, with no passwords
  • Members pause or cancel from their account, if you allow it

Honest answers

Does Payly take a cut of membership payments?

No. There is no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no paid tier. PayPal and Stripe charge their standard processing fees, as they would on any platform. How can this possibly be free?

What do visitors see on a members-only page?

Visitors who are not signed in see a notice that the page is for members, with a Sign in button. Customers without a high enough level are told their membership does not include the page. Only members see the page itself.

Do members need a password?

No. Members sign in with a link or a six-digit code emailed to them. Their account is made from the email address they give at checkout.

What happens when a member cancels?

They keep access until the end of the period they have paid for. When the subscription ends, the level ends with it.

Can I offer more than one level?

Yes. Each level has a number, and a higher number sees more: a member at level 2 can also open every page limited to level 1.
