Why Payly
No cut of your sales
Payly charges no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no commission. Stripe's card fees apply to card payments, as they would on any platform.
Cash, cards or anything else
Take cash and Payly works out the change. Take cards on a Stripe reader. Record any other payment, such as a bank transfer or a check.
How selling in person works in Payly
Cash and other payments need only your store address. Cards need a Stripe reader too.

Add your store address
In Settings > General, fill in Store address and click Save. The point of sale opens once it is saved.

Add a card reader, if you take cards
In Settings > Payments, connect Stripe. Under Card readers, click Add reader and type the pairing code your reader shows.

Start selling
Click Point of sale in your dashboard and click products to add them to the sale. Then choose Card, Cash or Other.

Honest answers
Is the point of sale free?
Yes. There is no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no paid tier. Stripe's card fees apply to card payments, and you buy any card reader from Stripe. How can this possibly be free?
Do I need a card reader?
Only to take cards. Cash and other payments need no extra hardware. For cards, connect Stripe and add a Stripe smart reader, such as the Stripe Reader S700 or S710 or the BBPOS WisePOS E.
Where do card readers work?
Wherever Stripe sells them: the US, Canada, the UK, most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Your Stripe account, your readers and your store's currency must all belong to the same country: a US Stripe account takes US dollars.
Can I try it before I sell?
Yes. In test mode, add Stripe's simulated reader and use the test buttons in place of a card. No money moves.
Can I use a barcode scanner?
Yes. A scanner that works like a keyboard, typing the code and pressing Enter, adds the product to the sale. Payly matches the code to a product's Barcode or SKU.
Who on my team can use it?
The owner, admins and editors can sell. Only the owner and admins can add card readers and give refunds. Viewers do not see the point of sale.
What is not included?
Tap to Pay on a phone, Bluetooth readers and offline sales are not supported. A sale cannot be split between two payment methods, and subscriptions cannot be sold at the counter. Payly does not connect to receipt printers or cash drawers, but you can print a receipt from your browser.
