How can a musician get paid monthly by fans without a platform taking a cut?

Run a fan membership. Fans pick a level, PayPal or a card bills them every month, and each level unlocks something only members get, such as demos, songs a week early or a live session. Decide the perks before the prices, and promise only what you can deliver every month. To keep the money, use a page that pays your own PayPal or Stripe account and charges no commission, as Payly does. PayPal and Stripe still charge their standard processing fees.

Why Payly

Levels built around your music

The Musician template starts you with Demo club (a demo each month), Backstage (songs a week early and a monthly live session) and Encore (a signed record every year). Rename them and set your own prices.

Songs reach fans by link

A post holds text, links and a cover image. Write about the demo, add the artwork and link to the track. Visitors see a locked post's title, date and cover, so your artwork works as a teaser.

Ask fans what to record next

Add a poll with 2 to 10 choices to a post, such as which demo to finish. Each member votes once and sees the results. Members can comment too.

How a fan membership works in Payly

You set the levels and share the music. PayPal or Stripe collects each payment.

  1. Start from the Musician template

In Your sites, click New, choose Creator memberships, then Musician. It comes with a photo, colors, fonts, a heading and ready-made levels.

  2. Set your prices and perks

Open Levels. Enter a monthly price for each level, a yearly one if you like, and what members get. Add a free level if you want fans to join with just an email.

  3. Connect, publish, then post

Connect PayPal or Stripe, then Cloudflare, and publish your page once. Then write your first members-only post about the next song.

What you get

Honest answers

Can I put my songs inside a members-only post?

No. A post holds formatted text, links and a cover image. Audio, video and files inside a post are not supported. Link to the track from the post instead.

Will fans be emailed when I post a new song?

No. Emailing members about a new post is not supported. Members find new posts when they visit your page, so tell your fans yourself.

Can I save a demo for my top fans?

Yes. Write the post and, under Who can see this post, choose a level and higher, such as Encore and higher. Levels rank by price, so members on higher levels read it too. Everyone else sees it is locked.

Can a fan move up from Demo club to Backstage?

Fans who pay with Stripe can switch levels from their account, as long as Let customers switch plans is on in Features under Settings. Fans who pay with PayPal cannot change level themselves. Free members can move up to a paid level from their account page.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no paid tier. PayPal and Stripe charge their standard processing fees on each payment, as they would on any platform. How can this possibly be free?
