Jotform pricing for payment forms: the free plan's limit and what comes next

Jotform lets you build payment forms on its free plan, but that plan allows only 10 payment submissions a month. After that, Jotform warns you and then disables your forms until the count resets or you upgrade. This guide shows what each plan allows, what the next plan costs per payment, and how Jotform compares with a form builder that has no plan fee.
What the free plan allows
Jotform's Starter plan costs $0 and includes the payment integrations. These limits decide when you start paying:
- 10 payment submissions a month
- 5 forms, 100 submissions a month and 500 stored submissions
- 100 MB of upload space and 10,000 form views a month
- Jotform branding on your forms, removable only on a paid plan
Jotform counts a payment submission as any submission from a form that has a payment integration. The count covers your whole account, across all forms, and deleting entries does not free it. At the limit, Jotform emails a notice and then disables your forms on a date named in the email. They show "Form over quota" until the count resets at the start of the monthly cycle, or until you upgrade.
The plans after it
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing, per month | Payment submissions a month | Forms | Submissions a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | $0 | 10 | 5 | 100 |
| Bronze | $39 | $34 | 100 | 25 | 1,000 |
| Silver | $49 | $39 | 250 | 50 | 2,500 |
| Gold | $129 | $99 | 1,000 | 100 | 10,000 |
Enterprise is a custom quote. Prices exclude tax. Paid plans have no trial but come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Yearly billing works out to 12 times the per-month price: $408 for Bronze, $468 for Silver and $1,188 for Gold. Nonprofits and schools can get 50% off Bronze, Silver and Gold after Jotform approves an application, which makes Bronze $19.50 a month or $17 on yearly billing.
No cut of each payment
Jotform says it never charges extra transaction fees on payments, only the processor's standard rate, which you pay to PayPal or Stripe. PayPal Checkout is 3.49% + $0.49 and Stripe's domestic card rate is 2.9% + $0.30. On a $25 payment that is $1.36 or $1.03, so you keep $23.64 or $23.97. For the detail, see PayPal fees explained and Stripe fees explained.
One catch: Jotform's own gateway chart lists PayPal Business at 2.9% + $0.30, but PayPal's fees page lists PayPal Checkout at 3.49% + $0.49. The numbers here use PayPal's page.
What the next plan costs per payment
A plan is a flat fee set by payment count, not by dollars. This is a month of $25 payments through Stripe, which leaves $23.97 each before any plan fee.
| Payments a month | Jotform plan | Plan cost (monthly / yearly billing) | You keep on Jotform (monthly / yearly billing) | You keep with no plan fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Starter | $0 | $239.70 | $239.70 |
| 11 | Bronze | $39 / $34 | $224.67 / $229.67 | $263.67 |
| 100 | Bronze | $39 / $34 | $2,358.00 / $2,363.00 | $2,397.00 |
| 250 | Silver | $49 / $39 | $5,943.50 / $5,953.50 | $5,992.50 |
| 500 | Gold | $129 / $99 | $11,856.00 / $11,886.00 | $11,985.00 |
The 11th payment is the expensive one, because it moves you from $0 to $34 or $39 a month. Spread over 11 payments, Bronze costs $3.55 each ($3.09 on yearly billing), and over 20 it costs $1.95 ($1.70). A full plan is cheaper per payment: $0.39 on Bronze ($0.34 yearly), $0.20 on Silver ($0.16) and $0.13 on Gold ($0.10). On a $25 payment, a full Bronze plan adds about 1.4% to 1.6% of the payment on top of the processor's fee.
What the money buys
Jotform does a lot beyond the payment. Its pages list more than 30 payment gateways including PayPal and Stripe, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Square or Stripe Checkout, bank (ACH) payments, coupons and promo codes, weekly, monthly or annual subscriptions, and a sandbox mode for practice payments. It also has more than 20,000 templates, more than 150 integrations, and forms you can embed in your own website. HIPAA features come only on Gold and Enterprise.
When Jotform is the right choice
- You take 10 or fewer payments a month. Jotform is free then, and costs the same per payment as any option with no plan fee.
- You need coupons, many gateways or embedding. Those are real advantages.
- You want the form hosted for you. There is no hosting account to set up.
- You are a nonprofit or school. The 50% discount changes the math.
If you know you will pass 10 payments a month, yearly billing is cheaper per month. It saves $5 on Bronze, $10 on Silver and $30 on Gold.
A payment form with no plan fee
Payly's Payment form has no monthly fee, no transaction fee and no commission, and Payly sets no limit on responses (the Responses screen shows the newest 5,000). PayPal or Stripe still charges its standard fee, so each payment leaves the same amount as in the table above, and from the 11th payment in a month you keep $34 to $39 or more. It takes prices on answers or a typed amount, shows a running total, charges once or on a schedule, and refunds from the Payments screen.
It has no discount codes, quizzes with scores or way to place a form inside another website, and it runs in your own free Cloudflare account. See Take payments on a form, or create a free Payly account.
